Keep on running!!
24th July 2015
We are quite the sporty bunch at TN4, we don't just claim to know about all sports, we actually play some of them too! Sadly, with rugby careers ending because of injury, there was a sporting gap that needed filling and so the half marathon and marathon career started. Having driven the length of the country to run some of the UK's biggest races in cities such as Bath and Newcastle it was nice to find a more local team putting on smaller races in the south of the UK.
I first came across Hermes Running http://www.hermesrunning.com when I entered the Bewl Water Trail Marathon, a gruelling 2 lap course of a beautiful reservoir in Kent, made doubly hard on this day due to the deluge of rain we had received. Later that year I ran the Thames Meander Marathon, a picturesque out and back marathon starting in Kingston and following the Thames to Putney. At this race I met David Ross, the race director, who himself is what can only be described as an insane runner, just check some of his running stories online.
One of the hardest parts of putting on these half and full marathons is finding enough people to help with marshalling the courses, Dave noticed that I ran a sporting hospitality company and asked if we could help, so for three of his races in 2015 we have provided up to ten paid marshals for his events, without the help of these guys the races could not go ahead.
We very much look forward to supporting Dave and his team on future events and taking part in a few of them again too!
