Eddie Jones off to a winning start

8th February 2016

After the humiliation of their pool exit from their own World Cup, England got their Six Nations off to a winning start under their new coach Eddie Jones with a 15-9 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield. In a hard-fought match, a first half try from second row George Kruis and one after the interval wing Jack Nowell saw home despite Scotland skipper Greig Laidlaw kicking three penalties for the home side.

In an attritional, testy international, there was little to choose between England, who were second in last year’s tournament and Scotland, who were whitewashed. However, England coach Jones said that he always had faith that England would eventually prevail if they could get their set-piece functioning smoothly.
